A “Dickens of a Draw” raises almost £4,000
For over 25 years Morpeth Lions Club’s has organised an annual ‘Dickens of a Draw’. Currently organised by Lion Mike Nicholson this has just taken place. There were 25 prizes including a first prize of a week’s holiday in any of Parkdean Holidays sites that was kindly donated by their Director, John Waterworth. The second prize is a weekend break at Linden Hall.
As usual, the Lions Club offered local charities and organisations the opportunity to raise funds which this year amounted to about £4000. Tickets and prizes were provided and all the 34 organisations involved had to do was sell the tickets – money will be returned to them in January. Over the years the benefit to these organisations and the community is approaching £100,000.
This year the winning numbers were drawn by the Mayor of Morpeth, Counc. Andrew Tebbutt and hopefully the winners will enjoy this festive season just that little bit more.
