Our aims are to help less fortunate members of the community, locally, nationally and through the Lions International Organisation worldwide too.

Leading up to Christmas each year we have our Christmas Tree of Hope which is a large decorated Christmas Tree given pride of place in Northallerton Forum which usually raises over £2000 for a chosen charity. Started in 2007 we raised money for CHUF the Children’s Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle and again for them in 2008. In 2009 the charity was Anthony Nolan Trust, in 2010 Butterwick Children’s Hospice, in 2011 we gave it to Cystic Fibrosis, 2012 Children with Asthma, and last year we chose Hambleton & Richmond MS Society this year 2014 the money will be going to Hambleton and Richmondshire Young Carers.

Our financial year runs from July-June and in 2013- 2014 we managed to raise over £6000 which we donated to a variety of charities and good causes including Air Ambulance. UK Disaster fund, Pendragon Community Trust, Jerry Green Foundation, Eve Appeal women’s cancers, Alzheimer’s, Phoenix House at Catterick and the local MS Society to name a few.

We raise funds in many ways from serving refreshments holding fashion shows, ladies evenings, coffee mornings, stewarding at a bike race and street and shop collections.

We supply our local Friarage Hospital with soft toys for the children who go to the A&E department to help calm them down, and emergency toilet bags and requisites to the Northallerton Women’s Refuge. We supply the emergency Message in a Bottle to Northallerton district residents and in local doctor and dental surgeries.

We carry out service in the community our favourite being looking after the Chernobyl children for a day

We meet socially and enjoy days and evenings out at the theatre, bus trips, shopping, meals out and just getting together.

Our Meetings are held in Rivendale residential Home on the 3rd Monday in the month starting at 7.30pm. Our contact numbers are Jenny on 0845 8337515 or Christine on 01609 771327.
