Gatehouse of Fleet is situated mid way between Dumfries and Stranraer on the A75.
Our club was Chartered in 1976, and we have hard working members, who actively support the aims and objectives of Lions Clubs International, within our local community.
Gatehouse of Fleet is a small unspoilt town, which was granted a Burgh of Barony in 1795. It nestles in the very heart of Galloway, and, in the 19th century was the centre of a cotton manufacturing industry
The town has been visited by many famed people including Robert Burns, the Scottish Bard, who, whilst staying at the Murray Arms Hotel (where we meet!), penned the famous poem 'Scots Wha Hae'.
Today, the town of Gatehouse of Fleet offers the tourist a wide choice of places of interest. From a visit to the famous 'Cream of Galloway Ice Cream', to the more traditional castles and legends of smugglers of yesteryear.
