Dunfermline Lions Giving Tree Appeal overwhelmed
On 13th, 14th and 15th December, Dunfermline Lions were involved in their annual Giving Tree Appeal, which helps supply toys to underprivileged and disadvantaged children in Fife through the Social Work Departments of Dunfermline, Cowdenbeath and Leven and also Fife Women’s Aid, which covers the whole of Fife.
The Lions members were once again overwhelmed by the generosity of the staff and customers of the Libraries in West Fife; the staff of the Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath Social Work Offices and the Fife Council Staff in Fife House and Bankhead Central in Glenrothes. We also had the support of individuals known to the Club and the local over 55’s of the Young at Heart Group also contributed extremely generously to a cause that stirred a good few hearts.
We cannot thank these generous people enough for their donations. We also have to thank the Manager and Staff of the King Malcolm Hotel in Dunfermline, who gave us the room to sort these toys out, their own time to help us do so and the use of the Manager’s husband to help distribute these gifts once they had all been put into the right bags. These people have rightly become Friends of the Dunfermline Lions. We were also ably helped by some of the Prefects from Woodmill High School which has become our partner in recruiting Young Leaders in Service from among its school role.
