Durham Lions Golf for Jade-Aid
The Durham Lions Annual Charity Golf Competition held at the Houghton Le Spring Golf Club, Copt Hill raised £900.00. This was dedicated to Jade-Aid, which was set up to support Jade Wormold-Gadd. She is a local 15 year old girl who suffers with EDS, which is a group of connective tissue disorders producing a number of complex problems affecting many body systems, including the use of collagens. They would normally provide strength and elasticity to tissues. However, in Jade’s case, they do not function correctly and this allows multiple dislocations to occur at any time.
The condition is so intrusive that, unfortunately, Jade suffered a dislocation of her shoulder whilst the photographs were being taken and could not stay at the event as long as she would have liked. She is now awaiting result from an MRI scan after experiencing problems with her pelvis. Jade knows very well what her many problems are, but she generally manages to remain cheerful and positive in her approach to life.
