United Nations Day at the Scottish Parliament
Both locally and internationally Lions celebrate their links with the UN every year by organising an event. District 105 NE holds the event within the Scottish Parliament, using it to raise awareness of Lions amongst MPs and their staff.

The 2007 event was organised by PDG Lion Hugh Kershaw and followed a different format from previous years where formal speeches were given in a private room in the parliament building.
Lion Hugh changed the venue to "the Garden Lobby". For those who have not been in the parliament building this is the main lobby between the Debating Chamber and the MSP's (Members of the Scottish Parliament) offices. After opening speeches of welcome and thanks to Dr Jean Turner for sponsoring the event, Lions were given the opportunity to spend the next two hours explaining in an informal way what we do to both the MSPs and their staff.
Displays were set up to cover Sight and Campaign SightFirst, Message in a Bottle, Special Olympics, Hearing, Peace Poster and a typical club. Each of these displays gave a focal point for discussion of Lions activities on a one to one basis.
