Malton,
Norton & District Lions Club

Malton
& Norton are adjoining market towns, divided by the River Derwent. Farming
is an important industry, and for many years Malton was famous for Rose’s Fine
Ales, but, alas, the brewery is no more.
Both towns have many well known racehorse trainers and numerous winners have
come from local stables over the years.
To
the North East, on the coast lies Scarborough, and
the City of York lies South West.
Malton,
Norton & District Lions Club, is part of District 105NE of Lions Clubs
International, the largest Service organisation in the world.

So,
what do our members do?
We
are a charitable organisation and our aims are to help less fortunate members of
the community, locally, and world-wide.
On
Saturday lunchtimes between October and May each year, members deliver Fish
& Chips to the old and infirm of the area.
We’re
a very active,
all male club with around 40 members.
<Each
‘season’ we estimate we deliver 2000 portions of Fish & Chips, made up
of a quarter of a ton of potatoes and half a ton of fish!
And we cover 1000 miles!
To
raise money to pay for our welfare work, we run our Santa’s Sleigh at
Christmas, Country lunches, Sportsmen's dinners, Concerts, and much, much more.
