Peterlee & District Lions Club - 25th Anniversary Flower Bed
Peterlee Lions Club have arranged with Peterlee Town Council to have a flower bed displaying our Lions Clubs International Logo. It is to be displayed on a small rise at the side of the A19 (Shotton Village Turn -off) which will be seen by all traffic going North and South on the Dual carriage way trunk road. Research carried out using Dept. of Transport/ DCC figures report that an average of 110,000 vehicles pass the end of the road weekly, this is approximately 15,000 per day. During the twelve week period of summer display this will be worth 1,320,000 "views" . Each car averages a minimum of two people over the display period so we will have 2,640,000 (two million six hundred and forty thousand) viewers. If only a fraction (even 1%) cared to join us we could have two more districts of over 1250 (one thousand two hundred and fifty) members each. One can only dream ! Nonetheless, apart from all that, the flowers will be nice !!! |

Among our welfare projects we deal with the hard of hearing (we pay for a lip reading teacher); we help local old peoples charities; children's groups; the local Hospice; and we respond wherever the need ari ses. But welfare work doesn't come cheaply, so how do we raise the funds to enable us to carry out our valuable work?
Well. We run Race nights and Casino Evenings. We hold Dance nights, and we run Theme nights. We hold Tombolas in local stores. We run an Annual Darts Marathon. And we even run Ferret Racing!!!!
